a thousand times podcast & other treats

Exciting stuff — we’ve made a few changes to our website, including a much more friendly audio page (with streaming songs!), and some fine navigation enhancements.

By far the biggest change, though, is that we are now podcast friendly, which means that you can subscribe to our audio feed using whatever podcast aggregator you like, and download our songs as they come out, automagically. You can even find us in the iTunes Music Store! Yay!

Sort of coincidentally, we decided we’d try to create some neat ‘anatomy of a song’ type podcasts as we near completion on some tracks. We’re hoping to take listeners through the process of creation for each song, and to provide some interesting context and general food-for-thought about things musical.

Our first venture in this new direction is now online for your listening pleasure: Evan on Dynamic Tension. This one is a bit different from the idea I mentioned above, but it’s plenty fun nonetheless. It’s Evan discussing our next calypso, ‘On Dynamic Tension’.

And stay tuned for a taste of our first calypso, ‘The creation of Bokononism’ later this week.

Enjoy!

Sheet Music for 'On the Creation of Bokononism'

As Evan mentioned in his previous post, we recently revised the third trumpet part, because, well, I couldn’t play it. So we rewrote it, and though it turns out that I still can’t play it, we’re sure it’ll sound much better when I can.

Original Sheet Music for 'On the Creation of Bokononism'

We got together tonight & laid down the bass and hand-drum trax for our first calypso, On the Creation of Bokononism. Extremely fun times were had.

We also transcribed Evan’s radical three-part trumpet intro, which I’ve posted for your viewing pleasure. Actually, it’s more for my pleasure, really.
